Hi, my name is Gemma and I'm an illustrator based in London.
I love working in a combination of traditional and digital media to capture a sense of character and atmosphere.
My inspirations come from the beauty of the mundane, nature and the environment.
During my final year at university I became greatly interested in children’s illustration and produced a children’s book as part of my Final Major Project. I explored the topic of Alzheimer’s as I’ve had a personal experience of this through my grandma from a young age. I really enjoyed the creative process and thinking quite laterally to find a way to make the topic more accessible for children without it being overwhelming. I love the role materiality plays in creating character and always consider how my process will enhance the meaning of my final illustration.
I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2020 with a BA First Class Honours degree in Graphic Art specialising in Illustration.
